My NEW Kit

Well, strictly speaking it's not my first set of dive gear, more like my second, but it's all NEW rather than off ebay, so to me it's my first lot!

It all started in March 2005 and I qualified OW. What a fantastic day that was! I was in a dry suit a foot too tall for me, with the neck seal NOT sealing. All hired from the shop. I was soaking wet with freezing water but it was one of those "I'll never forget that" feelings.

My then partner at the time found me pretty much everything on ebay and I get my dry suit, bcd, cylinder, lead, and lots of other things too. All for the bargain price of £200. I then bought some regs from someone on here, and hey presto I was a fully kitted diver! Although the suit was a good fit, it wasn't perfect and the bcd was not the best on the market. It didn't matter. I loved it and I loved diving. The kit and I had some good times together, and this year we've had a couple of bad times together. All the same, I'm grateful to my ex for encouraging me to dive, join YD AND getting my kit. But as with lots of things you have to move on! And boy this year have I moved on! (In so many ways!) Woo hoo!

About 5 weeks ago I took delivery of my Typhoon MTM membrane dry suit! (yeah, yeah, I know you all know cos I've told ya, but tough, I'm telling ya again!) It's great!

Then I grew up in July and became 40 and had some pretty generous family and friends who agreed to supplement my diving habit! I was going to buy someone's BCD from here (won't say at this point who just in case she's changed her mind) but it was just a bit too tight with my dry suit and undersuit on. However, my mind was made up! I wanted one!

So today I went and bought the Aqua-Lung Seaquest Diva LX BCD. OMG! What a dream! It's got a cross your heart bra bit made of neoprene! Fab! And of course, I had to buy the "shiny" knife that is specially made for it, didn't I!?! Would've been rude not to!!!

Finally, I've also got my new Mares Liquid Skin mask! Ooooo it's sooooooo soft!

New suit, new BCD, new knife, new mask!

Ok, ok, ok! So I'm on a 4 week ban, but that ISN'T the point, is it now??

I won't be in a week's time though! So Swanage, here I come!

I'll shut up now (but I just wanted to share cos I'm such a happy chappy!)

Woo Hoo Jules, hope it all matches nicely like Dave's kit. Am jealous of the Mares mask. They are lovely aren't they. I might sit on the pier with a begging bowl, borrow a dog on a piece of string, to see if anyone chucks money in and upgrade my Barbie mask.

Oh, come on. You can do better than that! I saw some pretty saucy pole dancing! I reckon you could make a fair few pennies doing that rather than the begging bowl!
