if i was going for frog or halcyon i would go for the halcyon as they have spent the money on R & D. Having said that the frog wings do look nice. ill have to try both out.
Jonny,
Don't go the ethical route, I have both the frog indigo (single wing) and the midnight (twin wing), with a frog backplate, harness & STA, the quality is superb, they feel great in the water and are cheaper than the halcyon equivalents - it's your money but why pay nearly double for the same product.
I also have an Agir Brokk wing, an OMS wing and a buddy tekwing - which will all be going for sale now I have the frog gear.

I've got a frog wing (indigo) and its done about 200 dives now and is still pretty much perfect. Not even 2-3 dives a day, salt, chlorine and sun have faded it.

Would definitely recommend it.

Got a Diverite Alu plate and frog STA on it.

have you a set of twin J's?! the bolts on twinning bands are usually 11 inches apart or thereabouts.

Its an interesting way of looking at it

The Frog is identical to the Halcyon in almost every way and works every bit as well.

If you're buying the complete wing and plate at £325 vs £395 - the difference is much less pronounced.

I don't blame Phill for stocking and selling Frog - he's a businessman and he's seen an opportunity

Pretty shitty behaviour tho really. As someone who "works" for Halcyon said to me over the weekend - "at least they could have found some way of improving it!"

The one thing I will say for Halcyon is that if you buy it from one of the instructors - they will happily spend some time with you setting it up and configuring it properly which really is half the battle with these DIR rigs. Half a day or a day of their time is worth a lot more than £50.

I've spent some time with divers who have bought these single tank DIR rigs and are wondering what all the fuss is about - then I've spent half an hour with them fitting it and weighting it correctly and then they know!

It depends how far you want to take it... Halcyon didn't invent the wing. Halcyon didn't even invent the donut wing; DeepSea Supply did with the Torus. So if you want to reward R&D then maybe you are looking in the wrong place entirely?

Sure the Midnight looks a lot like the Evolve, but that's not a bad thing and they are not identical. I have both and choose to dive the Frog because I prefer it in the water.

Try as many types of wing as you can and buy what you prefer in the water. I wouldn't get swayed by cheesey moral arguments because they tend to be a bit dubious most of the time...

Even funnier was the location of the Frog and Halcyon stands at last week's show.
I have no morals so spent my money with Phill
Especially as I found that the Halcyon show prices were identical to their rrp.
