First wing

this is an add on to the thread below on "tis the season to be shopping"

ive been looking at the Halcyon eclypse as a starting wing. i am assuming i can keep the backplate and harness and just attach an evolve wing 2 it when im ready for twinsets?

what are the benefits and cons over this system and that of the oms equivelant?

cheers guys

AP valves, Dive Rite and Frog are much cheaper for the same thing.
A wing is only a bag of gas you hang from.
Frog = Halcyon copy.
OMS seem to be mainly red which is not good.
AP valves are cheap.
Buy a decent SS BP, make your own harness. You know it and modifying it is not an eye watering experience

Presumably you're talking about the 45lb/60lb non-bungeed OMS wing.

I have an OMS wing and it's built like an old boot. In a good way. Tough, I mean . The Halcyon I wouldn't know, but people seem to like it. The Halcyon seems to have a shorter inflation hose, or "no more than you need" if you're thinking DIR .

Wings, whether for single or double tank use have (at least) two holes 19" apart, which bolt onto backplates which also have (at least) two holes 19" apart. Difficult to go too far wrong really...

Isnt there something ethically wrong using a companie which copies or rips off another... i thought this was a taboo area

Navigator saw the sea in a book once
Halcyon eclipse 30 wing around £265. Frog indigo around £135. Who's ripping off who?

Go for the Frog its a much nicer wing and a better price. The STA is an unnecessary annoying extra (why the hell don't they just use normal tank bands) but its still better value than the Halcyon and looks much more sexy.

Black OMS 45 lb wing is happy with both singles and a 12 litre twinset. I don't see it as a compromise in either case.
