Smile Pool dive weighting

Hi all, a bit of friendly YD advice please:
I have recently taken the plunge and joined a BSAC club and doing the SALT thingie to cross over my PADi quals.
First pool night this week and wanted some advice on
1. shorty or not to shorty,
2 how much weight to lug down with me.
I'm shall we say slightly rotund at 16 stone and 5 foot 9.
All my confined training was done at the side of a Maldivian jetty so i have never done any pool dives. Going off PADi basic weighting, my 16 stone converts in to 100 KG, using the 10% rule means I should be strapping on 10KG, which seems a lot when with a 3mm full wetsuit on mediterranian sea dives I only strap on about 7-8KG.
Does chlorine have much effect on bouyancy?
Don't particulary want to lug lots of weight to and from the car if I dont need it.
Thanks in advance
Chris

Try about 8lbs in a shorty in a swimming pool.

Nothing wrong with being 100 kg thats what I weigh

I'd go with that.
I use three kilos to freedive a freshwater pool in my shortie.
If you use the same kit in the sea subtract 3Kgs for fresh water.

All the above advice is way off, the OP is crossing over to BSAC so will need at least 25kg on a belt for a shortie

Only joking 4kg should be fine although I would take a couple of extra kg to the poolside as well just in case, you probably won't need it but be prepared is my motto.

Good luck.

Safe diving,
Steve

or go T shirt and shorts ......?

Pool sessions you could do no weight and just a cylinder bcd etc and swim shorts and t shirt ? I am 100kg and even given no weight carried I still need air in the BCD to hit neutrality ?and thats with a 7 litre
So try it without any to start you might be surprised (I certainly was )

Do you need any weight at all, when I learned the PADI way ,
the instructor only gave us 1x2kg block.
I have had the odd dive in the pool since with no weights at all.

What you said. In the pool I don't need any weight. That includes diving in a drysuit. I probably displace more H2O than most

I ama sight more than 100kg and need nothing in a shortie with a steel cylinder in the pool.
I would also say that a rash vest is enough in the pool depending on how much natural bioprene you carry.

I'm lighter than you, but for height probably a similar BMI . I don't need any weight in the pool normally.

However on my last pool dive I just could not stay down.... it was a salt water pool....doh! So check it is fresh water before you sort out your weights .
