bcd

Hi

I have a diva LX it was the first one shown to me in the shop and i bought it, i was told it was the best one for my shape and i believed him. I have never looked at any other BCDs and call me thick if you like but I haven't got a clue what a wing and harness is. I find my diva ok and only because i dont know any better, when I need a new one i will certainly have a really good look around at what is on offer and what feels most comfortable. I cant believe how bloody naive I was back then.

it isn't naive at all. You may well find that no matter how many you try on, the Diva will be the most comfy for you. Spookily enough, I doubt you were the first woman to go into the shop and he probably had a bit of experience in selling BCD's to women. There is a reason why it is one of the most popular womens BCDs!

And contrary to what you may think from reading posts on YD, I know far more women who dive in the Diva than in a wing, backplate and harness.

Seaquest Eva

I have been using Eva for nearly 6 years now not sure if they do them anymore. Like them a lot as I quite small size 8 but 5 7" tall.

Back then when I started UK diving I was diving with semi-dry, now I am diving with drysuit not that much of a probelm all i need is too loosen the shoulder straps so that i get it easily.

Sometimes I dive with a 15l and a pony lift is fine no probelms.

I had an Eva before I got my Diva. I only changed because I (personally) found the release clips fiddly and I was about to do my Rescue Diver course. It was a cracking little BC.

And although I dive with the Transpac and rec wing with twins in the UK I default back to my Diva LX for my diving abroad...still a great piece of kit.

I have always used the standard club bcd's and never really thougt that a womens bcd would actually make that much difference. I was asked to try on a Ladies Zeagle Zena Bcd and as soon as I put it on I fell in love with it. It doesn't look very substantial but it has a zip up the front and it is very fitted around the waist. I'm fairly big chested and found it really comfortable in either a drysuit or wetsuit. It's brilliant!

I've never used a Diva LX so can't compare but I think that you should try on a few BCD's and see which feels comfortable and suitable for you. Try womens and mens and see if you feel a difference!

I dive with a Scubapro Ladyhawk and love it. It has withstood a fair bit of battering on my travels and still looks as new! I haven't tried any other ladies' BCs but I have a friend who dives the Diva and she loves it. I find, for me, that the Ladyhawk feels really comfortable and it doesn't squeeze my boobs.

The dive shop that I bought it from in Sydney had a pool on-site, where you could try before you buy. There may be shops here that allow you to do that - if so, it'd probably be quite worthwhile.
