Question Twin Set up for beginner

For all you twinnies out there I could do with some advice re setting up twin set.Currently have two 12 litre tanks, atomic regs (yes they do exist and I have one) and diverite wing but no backplate.Would you get rid and start again with tanks as they're past their best, what size etc, bands, boots?. We have trouble getting anybody to turn the pressure up round our area so 300 bar probably not an option.Any advice on regs DIN fitting, A clamp etc and make for second reg on left tank. Any suggestions welcome. Any good cheap suppliers that members use? Want to learn more diving so need names of good advanced nitrox instructors etc and other tech courses.

Just a litle way up the M6 from you (J37, Sedbergh) is Andy Hayhurst's outfit Dalesdivers he'll do you an "Introduction to Technical Diving" and answer all these questions and more that you haven't asked yet, all the northern-based YD-ers tend to use Andy for their techie training.

I'd second this advice - and bear in mind that I will happily trudge all the way up from the South West to go and see Andy for advice, equipment or training. I'm in the process of getting loads of help and advice from him about twinsets. He's a seriously good bloke, and a total diveGod, so if I were you I'd give him a call!

Cheers
H

HI

There are a load of threads on this subject in the Tec section of the forum, just run down the list and the twin posts stand out.

I am no expert on twins, I don't even own a set, but from what you say you have, I would keep the wing, bin everything else and forget the word "cheap" - no one stocks that brand!

I third the words of Steve and H regarding Mr Hayhurst....He's a f**kin star!
Take your clobber up there, tell him what you want, then he'll tell you what you really want...no hard sell, just pure knowledge...

In the words of Tim nice but dim, " Awfly nice chapp"!
