    Reg set is easy.

    Apex Atx40, Din.

It's a short answer, but it is a solid & reliable set that can grow with your diving.

Get a Din set, you can get an A-Clamp adaptor if you need to.

Good luck with the research. YD is a good place to start. Have a look through the threads too though as this has been discussed before.

If you decide you want Apex DST 1st Stage (Din) with XTX50 primary, XTX40 as an octo and Suunto CB pressure gauge, depth and compass. Then I have a set for sale. They are 3 years old but only dived 5 times by my 15 year old son. PM me if you are interested.

    Cheers

I bought an Apeks XTX200 and whilst I love it I use Apeks ATX40s on my twins....I wouldnt say the XTX200 is worth the extra if you are on a budget...yes its lovely on singles but the ATX40 will do you for either later on if you go that route. If you don't go that route its still a brilliant reg and excellent value. You can get the adjuster knob and upgrade an ATX40 to an ATX50 and there is no real noticeable difference between the two.

Brett at Divelife is selling them at a fantastic price right now!

Oh and get Din, forget A-clamp. DIN is so much more secure and you can buy a DIN-A-clamp adapter. Puts the first stage a bit nearer your head but is fine. Have yet to find somewhere that could not provide a DIN cylinder buit am covered for that eventuality

    what they said
Apeks DS4 TX 40 combo is a great start
    or scubapro MK17s or 25s
If you look at the recent poll "which brand of regulators" you will see that more than twice as many of us use Apeks than the 2nd favourite Scubapro. with the 3rd most polular being poseidon.

I run three sets of ATX40 & DS4 regs on my twins and side bottle. Go for DIN fittings.

£125 from SDS is a bargain and you won't find a better reg for the money. You can use them as they are, with an octo or upgrade to twins and just buy a second one to match.
