Yep, it is an excellent reg by all accounts. I use scubapro Mk17's and have had no problems. The routing on the MK25's for twinset use is very good, so if you decide that you want to go that route it will still work for you....no need to buy again, just to buy another.

Consider Apeks too, they are considerably cheaper. If I had not already bought one Mk17 and I was starting from scratch then I think I would go with Apeks on cost.

Experience doesnt really come into it; most regs would be fine for most divers, some just give an "easier" breathe at deeper depths.

The things to look for are really a DIN fitting and other than that it is down to personal preference but yes, the Mk25 / S555 is a great reg and should you want to start diving twins later and get another then they do offer some of the best hose routing options.

As said, Apeks are also a great reg.

If at first you don't succeed then definitely do not take up parachuting!

Good set of regs - I've got 3 of the Mk20's that the Mk25 replaced and I'm very happy with them.
Get a DIN set for ease of future use.

Perhaps worth getting the G250V / S600 second stage because they're "currency" - everyone loves them and would make a slightly better primary reg for a twinset rig later: but it's not a biggy. MK25's aren't the easiest first stages to rig for conventional "short hose" singles IMO - they really come into their own routing wise on twinsets. HTH

If you go for a lower spec Apex or Scubapro now as a primary 1st stage it can always become a great stage 1st stage later.

I've got a couple of Scubapro Mk17's rigged for single tank diving that I'm selling (also a Mk17 1st stage on it's own) if this is something you might be interested in...

    Talking

Only on YD would a guy go from buying his 1st reg set to getting advice on his stage regs in 6 posts!

I would go for an S600, its a nicer reg and only a little more money.

EDIT: Si's offer is a bargain, you could find an S600 on Ebay and Bob's your uncle!

Good regs, got mk25af's never had a problem with them, I'd go for the s600 though.
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried.
