Frankly, I've been sickened by the attitude of some members of the board in recent days... although encouraged by some of the PM traffic which has been going on. I thought Andy's post was a great way of ending this nasty episode - but now people appear to be trying to use this very thread to justify why and when it is OK to attack people on a personal level. It is never OK to attack someone personally - debate is one thing, insults are another. It is all very well for those who do have thicker skins or more confidence throwing up their hands and saying they don't know what all the fuss is about but one post did go as far as suggesting that someone was no longer welcome on a trip due to their stated views on this board. I am ashamed that I did not post at the time that this was unacceptable. Jeeeese - it's horrifying how quickly the board can turn on someone The fact that some people can stand by and say it's OK if people are upset by what is written - because they deserved it or because they should have a thicker skin is pathetic. If you are not bothered by crap that flys about on this board - then good for you - and I envy your self confidence. But understand that not everyone is as tough. I would be horrified if I thought that I ever caused anyone to be hurt by what I posted... to the point where they did not feel welcome here any more... and would want to take the opportunity to apologise. Time to play nicely ... please BTW - to save any more PMs - thanks for your kind words but I'm not the one who has been contemplating pulling out of a gig 'cos of all this crap - You won't stop me diving that easily Can't remember who said it's time to go back to normal and start taking the piss out of Daz again - but, unsurprisingly, I'm all for that option

What the Hell, yeah lets do it. Matt ps could we have a symbol against our names for how much 'hammer' we are prepared to take, one we could modify ourselves in case we are having a hard day or something. Last edited by MATTBIN : 20-06-05 at 03:47 PM. |

| TO be honest, I think everyone needs to understand that what they say can and will have repercussions in future. If someone turned round to me and told me they dive with ppO2 of 4.0 for their diving I couldn't let them on my trip. I don't need another visit to a coroners court. And in the same way I don't expect the right to book on to someone's trip who I've just red blobbed and slagged off, that would be like a child who doesn't understand the consequences of his actions. The reason why YD is so well behaved (for the very large part) is that we meet up, and we dive. That's the difference. So many other forums have divers that never dive, jsut sit about talking about it then go off and dive in their isolated insular groups, and that's why we all end up doing things better, and becoming better divers. Because we're open to others viewpoint and way of doing things. The other thing I think people have to be careful of is a bit of horseplay with your mates being seen by others as offensive. If I didn't know YDers the way I do I wouldn't say half of what I do. Please don't let anyone think they're not welcome, because they are. A lot has been said and done in the past (take some of the rows Chasey and And and Bob C have had) and they have happily dived on the same boats and even in the water together. I've had blazing rows which have come to strong words offline and I still dive with all of them. As a wise man once said: It's the internet, not Dallas. Take it personally and it'll be the end of you. Chill. And get your names down for gigs. Not you though Gledders, we don't like you. |

| Oh, and it was me who wanted to all go back to taking the piss out of Daz again. He's used to it, and knows we mean it. A lot. Can't we just all resolve that every day we log on and whoever's name comes up first on the members online list is who's going to get the arse ripped out of them? That's how I do it |

| if you want to take the piss out of someone I'll provide the catheter - and even warm it first!

I wholeheartedly agree with this one mate, one reason I don't like MSN (or similar) chat and text messages. Often hard to put emotions or similar in and you can end up sending the wrong message completely. |

You do it because you've met me, know me and can then base your comments on fact rather than just making comments based on your perception of me from an internet persona. ..... hang on... I've just read what I wrote.. F*ck you and the horse you rode in on Daz
