I have taken time to rewrite the forum rules - these are the rules new members now agree to on registration and thought I'd also post them on here for reference.

YD Forum Rules

Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. If you agree to the terms, please check the 'I agree' checkbox and press the 'Register' button below. If you would like to cancel the registration, click here to return to the forums index.

Although the administrators and moderators of Yorkshire Divers - Dive Forums will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of Yorkshire Divers - Dive Forums, nor Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd. (developers of vBulletin) will be held responsible for the content of any message.

By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws. This includes any material or comments that, in the eyes of the administrators, could be construed as libellous.

The owners of Yorkshire Divers - Dive Forums reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason. Deliberately 'baiting' a moderator or administrator on the boards will, in all likelihood, lead to an immediate and permanent ban from the boards.

All information posted on the boards becomes the intellectual property of Yorkshire Divers Limited and may not be reproduced in any format without the express written consent of the owners. This includes (but not exclusively) quoting on other websites, reproducing text or images in publications or reproducing the brand name or logos of Yorkshire Divers Limited. Any violations could lead to legal recourse.

Well, as predicted I need to clarify a point or two:

1. If you post images on YD, they are YOURS, not ours. The Intellectual Property statement is there primarily to protect YD from plagurism. However, it is also there to remind you that when you post on a public forum, your comments are public. We are NOT obligated to remove any of your messages or your account in the event of you being banned etc from the site.

2. The revised statement defines more closely what we consider acceptable conduct on the boards and the instances in which your account may be removed.

3. It reminds you Yorkshire Divers are not responsible for the content and views expressed, nor do we necessarily agree or condone them

4. "Moderator baiting" is now outlawed as a sport

Thats all folks - panic over, we aren't repossessing your house or anything.
