Yes it is insurance to cover you, but not your gear (unless it is "lost" whilst they are recovering you from an incident, and then it is only 1k IIRC)

And, to be honest, some of the values are a little low. The search and resuce stuff is very good, but the compensation levels are quite poor, especially for the price.

You can do better as a package, but it then you wouldn't be supporting DAN. It is a choice to make.

Can some one recommend what insurance i should take out now that i have got back into diving, i dont have any insurances what so ever, please help,

personally i go with dan i have it covers you home and abroad for anytype of diving incident for a year for £50

This is something i have been considering for a while now, however are there any benefits for UK diving? Other than supporting DAN and the £1k for kit cover in the case of rescue, which is better than nothing, but nowhere near enough.
(i still need travel insurance for holidays, so IMO its not cost effective outside the UK?)

I used to use DAN but once I needed full trip, medical and kit insurance it made far more sense to roll it all up is a specialised dive package.

Overlapping insurance normally means they both think the other should pay.

UK:- NHS for health and house insurancefor kit
Abroad:- westfield annual diving policy (plus winter sports)
