Smilies

Not sure whether this should be here, but 'feck it anyway'

How do i go about putting different smilies in posts, not the ones in the smilies list but ones like Finless uses from time to time, can these also be put in normal e-mails????

Cheers

Ian

The smilies are actually image files so you need to know where there hosted from. Once you find the smilie you want to use on the internet somewhere you need to right click on the smilie or image and select properties. That will give you the url of the smilie. If you try it on the smilie below you'll see it will give you http://www.rmandrews.co.uk/smilies/hitcomp.gif

Once you have the url simply put it in your post surrounded by image tags. It should look like the line below but the brackets should be like these [ ] instead of these { }

Hope this helps.

Oh yeah, it works!

Is there a database of these somewhere? Do they work on e-mails?

There are a few sites around with them on but a lot of sites will try and sell you them to use on your own website.

They don't work on e-mails unless you use software that will embed the smilie in the e-mail. But that makes e-mails bigger (they then take longer to send) and some AV software will strip them out anyway. I think there's a piece of software called incredimail that will put smilies in but I've never used it so don't know how good it is.
