Mick - isn't that exactly what others were trying to say to you, but that you insisted you had to learn them yourself?

Yeah, and I agree fully. There was the odd occassion wher I did indeed take to heart what I was told and in hindsight am glad I did.

Great idea Gareth. Everyone can learn something no matter how long they have been diving. Just posted one of my screw ups on the sub forum.

The British Diving Safety Group

also think that incidents reported here should be reported to the British Diving Safety Group

or in their on bumf on the web;

Quote:
THE BRITISH DIVING SAFETY GROUP

The British Diving Safety Group (BDSG) was formed in 2002 to promote safe diving practices amongst the British sport diving community. Currently chaired by the RNLI, the group has a broad representation, with all of the UK diver training agencies, the HSE, the MCA and the professional charter-boat skipper organisations having a seat at the table.

ANDI/British Hyperbaric Association/BSAC/DDRC/GUE/HSE/IANTD/INM/RNLI
MCA/Royal Navy/PADI/PBA/PSAI/SSAC/SSI/SAA

These organisations regularly meet in order to work towards a common goal; to make diving safer. By sharing and analysing incident data, devising safety initiatives and then promoting them to divers, the group has a broad influence on the recreational diving community.

The comprehensive nature of the BDSG, reflecting as it does all of the significant interests in the British sport diving scene means that it is uniquely positioned to significantly influence diving safety.

I would just prefer to post any mishaps or mistakes on YD and not on something as formal as the BDSG. Feels less threatening.

Great idea guys.

As for BDSG, several regular YD'ers are members of the BDSG and so there is a regular, informal input to the BDSG. Nothing official or heavy but rest assured that if there is a good safety lesson on YD it will be considered by several members of the BDSG.
