| A collection of non serious but stupid mistakes. Before I launch into tales of woe about the big ones I've dropped, here are some less serious ones that made me feel stupid. When teaching I was thinking what have I forgotten as I jumped into Stoney. It was my fins. In front of a class of six. Buddy and I turned my torch off in the pit on a night dive to see of there was any light filtering down from the full moon. There was a bit. When my buddy turned his torch on, mine didn't switch back on. A new undersuit led to a stuck cuff dump on ascent from 20m, and a cold arm from opening the wrist seal. The undersuit had sucked into the dump. I wore a strap around the undersuit for a while until I changed to a shoulder dump. I changed a mouthpiece on a reg, had a phone call, and forgot the cable tie. Gob full of water at 15m and me being puzzled as to why there was a mouthpiece in my trap but no air. Jumping about 25-30 ft into the sea off a cliff in Menorca in full kit I learned that from that height a giant stride entry is made with legs closed. |
