| That was followed up with a priv. message explaining what it meant :0. i don't advocate using a dry suit with no knowledge of how to use one. but neither do i think you need to pay to do a course to understand how to use it

However, the dry suit courses do offer information about dry suits which may aid an undecided diver whether to go neo/trilam/other, neo/latex seals. I did the PADI course years ago and I was the only one doing it. We went to Horsea and did two dives so I don't think the instructor made much money out of the deal.

It was your post, that spurred me into posting this. The follow up priv message, would not have been clear to everybody I am not specifically advocating a paid for course. I always taught dry-suit informally starting in the pool |

Fully respect the original post. My own personal list of cock ups is encyclopedic. However it could not be left unsaid that the Instructor / Buddy who took you that deep on a first dry suit dive was grossly irresponsible. All training is good training. All training is an experience worth having. However a dry suit is one of those things that can only me mastered by actual in water time. Its like riding a bike or ice skating. You really need to make those early wobbles and slip ups in a safe environment. 6m is more than risky enough to do that in. And some people can figure out the skills without the need to part with coin to get some one to show them. ATB Mark Chase
