| Cool. I've done similar, but using a long hose with the backup under my chin meant I could find at least one reg when I needed it.

| My wife had to act quickly when she saw a fellow diver fall off a boat ladder and hang upside-down from where his fin was caught in the last rung, and without his reg in. Keep your reg in until you are safely out of the water unless you have to hand your set up first.

| As a buddy I never de-kit until my buddy is back on the boat or out of the water safe and sound, being a buddy doesn't end until you're both de-kitting in my view. I think your mate should have kept his fins on, just in case. Matt |

| Get this one, i was once diving in gran cayman jumped in the water, last instuctor followed me in doing a free descent, at 5 meteres realised hed forgot to turn his tank on, so hed not even bothered checking before jumping in, thats what buddy checks are for, never seen anyone swim to the surface as fast

| yep have to own up, a while back I jumped off the high platform at Guildy. Got to the bottom at about 8-10m and ...... yep forgotton to turn my air on....luckily I have flexible arms so could reach the valve !! and how many times have i run through buddy checks with students !! diving is no place for complacency a |
