I was waiting for that one. If you don't know what Wilbo is on about, check this one out, another in the ILADFT sub-forum.

Just noticed, there are 3 pages of threads here. Well done everyone for their honesty and forthcomingness (is that a made up word?)

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.

Glad you are okay and here to tell the tale. I can totally relate to the comment you make above. I have only once been really stressed underwater - I was gulping air and my heart was racing but the voice in my head was saying 'calm down you daft sod, breathe easy, calm down, it's allright'.

I was totally stressed out yet strangely calm and controlled at the same time.

This dive also went down under the category 'dives I learnt from'.

I lost the spool so after I had cut the reel at 38m I had nothing to bag up from and wouldn't have done from there as it was too deep for the spool if I'd still had it. If I had still had the spool I would hve gone to about 15m and launched the red smb from there.........in fact that's roughly where I noticed it had gone.

I could have tied off my spare red smb onto what was left on my reel but I didn't think of that until I'd got home!!

I have a full size back up SMB with a mini c02 canister on it. It has 10cm of string on the end terminating in a small suicide clip.

In the event of having to go to a back up SMB your in a heightened stress situation. So I keep it realy simple. Clip on back up SMB to loop in end of spool line or to canvus loop on failed primary gas blob and pull the rip chord.

Job done, and it can be done whilst ascending or on the 21m stop.

Other advantages are if i need additional lift to winch my arse off the sea bed I can clip it to the smb line where it will run freely to the surface giving me the lift of two SMBS (Three if i send the yellow up as well)

I have had to do this once when a leaking neck 0 ring emptied out my primary gas bottle. Only thing was i got a few tugs on the line when Steve on Nauticat tried to retreave the deflated SMB laying on the surface not realising it was attached to the inflated SMB

My ones you can. They are unsealed at the bottom and allow you to fill them manually. My new crack bottle SMB is able to be filled manually as well. I think my other one was a sealed unit though. It didn't matter anyway as I had to cut it free and lost it.
