I think Fiona was refering to the fact that I am on a Tech 1 evaluation at the moment and should be better spending my time

Son, you're going to have to make up your mind about growing up and becoming aircrew. You can't do both.

The aircraft limits are only there in case there is another flight by that particular aircraft. If subsequent flights do not appear likely, there are no limits.

BOYANCY REDUNDANCY

I started to carry my smbd purely as buoyancy backup shoud my bcd fail i.e launch it and then haul the line in to pull me up. I dive wetsuit so no DS inflation to help.

It's a good idea to look at all your kit an ask the question 'if this breaks will I need a back-up ? - if the answer is yes then carry it.

Ok, so I look like a christmas tree with pony bottle, spare mask, 2x torch, 2xknife, computer+watch etc but when things go wrong I hope not to be looking around for my buddy to get me out of the tight spot ......... where did he go anyway ?

i suppose if you did have to ditch weights you could attach your line to it and have it as an anchor line to control the assent.
you would need as much line as the water depth you where in.
might even get the weighs back.

For Mala

Dear Mala

Astute observation - I know someone who did just that in a similar situation for his buddy who was freaking out with a dud bcd. ( and as you suggest they did get the belt back too ! )
