Actually that whole Inishbofin vid was a scam- we did it on a set with special effects. Shure everyone knows you don't get viz like that in Ireland !

something truely unbelievable happened on a liveaboard i was on.

an ozzy was buddied with a female italian? that he didnt know previously (nice one youre thinking)
at the end of the dive, eveyone was carrying out an extended safety stop on the reef (plenty to see)
the ozzy signaled to his buddy that he was low on air +was ready to ascend.
the buddy didnt acknowledge, so he signaled again +showed his gauge.

the buddy took off! finning away as fast as she could
was she worried he'd snatch her reg?

the ozzy came over to me +signaled the same.
i offered him my spare (having loads of air left) he looked realy relieved! but stayed on his own air.
+we ascended as a threesome with my buddy.

back onboard, the italian said she hadnt seen the signal.
was given a one to one check dive, the next dive.
+only dove with a dm the remainder of the trip.

i think i wouldve had a few more choice words for the buddy if it was me.
+been emailing her dive acreditation agency

In defense of all piccie takers out there - take redundancy and dive solo or if you do dive with a buddy, make sure they know your about to stop and take a shot or two, it only takes a second and your buddies gone -so agree before hand on what to do in that scenario. Also whilst taking piccies frequently check your guages its amazing how much gas you can get through whilst trying to get that front page of diver shot
