I think the hoop and the buoy are joined together (see dark blue rope)

Wow, that was a really great throw. I never won anything at a fair and you win that cylinder, regs and blob.

I've been carrying a yellow co2 smb for a while (from aberdeen watersports, havent broken it yet). Its got a suicide clip on it which seems to work.

Anyway I dont often get to use it intentionally, and having seen Steve Chesh use his, thought I'd try it whilst in Cromhall last weekend at the end of the dive. Forgot to warn the staff I was going to do that though But they did wander over to see if I was alright and I was out of the water about 30secs later so no dramas.

What size buoy was it that you were using Steve? I've got one lurking in my garden, and a 12L steel lurking in my garage. I need to fix the two together I think now I'm in 60m+ depths.

I've asked at NDC what would happen if you deployed a yellow & red in the 80m bit - the answer - panic. I've left them thinking about it.

Yes. The buoy (with the blue rope) is attatched to both the cylinder (by the green rope) and the hulahoop.

    The one i have is approx 12 " diameter or 40 " circumference. It's fine for a 7-10 litre, but i've not tried it with a 12.....

That's what I thought. My impression would be that it would pull off the bouy on the surface quite easily in a chop, but I guess you have tried it?
I just wondered if having the hoop so got pulled down the line slightly would be safer. To do that though I would think the line would need to be hanked up. Hmmmm. I would need to think about that some more...

Of course you can. In fact, you can have it now for a donation to the RNLI. PM me your address and I'll send it to you. The cylinder might need a looky though, and it is a DIN fitting. You are DIN, aren't you?

It might be difficult, though, to persuade skippers that your name is Morag... oh no.... wait a minute.... it's a girls name.... shoudl be quite easy then

Getting dragged down in a chop was somethign that concenered me, which is why there is a couple of boltsnaps on it.

Testing hasn't happened other than in calm, shallow waters. It worked then, and from those tests, i see no reason why it wouldn't work in the sort of chop you would go out in.
