Mounting stages on a standard YBOD

Having a good look at the standard wing & harness on the YBOD, there is a nice D ring on the bottom of the wing to clip the bottom of the stage to, but I couldn't find a clip at nipple height any where. What are people doing for mounting the top clip to? I've seen pictures of people using stages & I don't think I could get my 7lt aluminum stage mounted on the box itself!

Cheers,

James.

Maybe they've changed something. I have a D-ring on the outside of the counterlung at just about the right height. It does try to hide underneath but it's just about right.

Mines a new unit, and it's also got these on. Is does sometimes get hidden between the counterlung and the harness though, have a dig about, you should find it. It is attached to the Harness, by the way, not the counterlung.

There is a lot in and around the harness & counter lung. The unit I was looking at was a brand new unit. There were some D rings on the inside edge of the counter lungs, so maybe they had got twisted round or something. Anyway I'll just have to wait to get my hands on a second hand unit, do the course & then I can get going.

James.

There's a second hand unit on ukdiving for around £3300 at the moment. I'd be tempted myself except an out-of-money error has occured. (and shows no signs of resolving itself for a few years yet...)

Laters,
Janos

Certainly looks like a nice D-Ring, but it'd be a pain to get it on a standard harness, as you can't thread it onto the webbing because there are buckles in the way. Really that would be best on a (homemade) webbing harness.

I have a question for those of you with one piece harnesses - do you thread the counterlungs onto the webbing, or just hold them down with a clip at the bottom?

If you don't thread it on, does it "flap about"? The reason I'm asking is that I'm trying to sidemount my bailout cylinders cave-style, meaning the valves are kind of under my armpits. In order to be able to easily access this connection point, I was thinking that I might not thread the lungs on the shoulder straps, relying on the clip at the bottom to hold them down - then, when I need to get to the mounting point in my armpit, I can release the counterlung, to give me a more unobstructed access... Any thoughts?

My counterlungs are not attached to the webbing, but have bungee at the bottom, that the waist strap on each side goes through - very quick and easy to don, pull lungs over, put strap through and do up your buckle, hols them very nicely snug to me.
