I've seen the military version's. Well, the outside anyway. It looked like a scrubber alright. I was going to have a good old nose, but a big nasty bearded man from APD shooed me away <sob>.

Looks like the cell position is pretty much what we're used to judging by the lid and my imagined X-ray vision. APD were at the time into using some dead spiffy german cells (for the Evo and Insp II) cos they were apparently much more reliable.
The nasty vicious & possibly unreliable rumours that abound in the YBOD community state that, in the event, the new wunder-cells weren't all that - hence the interminable delays..

EDIT: FFS dude, it's APD!

The electronics are completely different. The scrubber has a different flat top with a spider cover over. There is an optional temperature sensor that pases through the core and measures scrubber use. There is easy access to the cells with improved co-axial connectors. Fibre optics lead from the LEDs in the lid to the HUD...
Oh no, I've just realised I've started writing a review!

OK Mr Smartypants journo - are the cells in the position we're used to & are they Teledyne?

Go on, let us in to the secret - - is it a nice dive?

Somemore info

Found the Evolution manual from ADP but it's in PDF! Anyone here knows how to get pic from a PDF manual so that I can post them here? From what I can see, the head can be dismantled in 2 pieces. You have a flat plate that seals with scrubber (black) where all sensors are attached and then a protective cap (red) to go on everything! Like this when you remove the protective cap you can have bette acess to sens!

I think the whole idea of PDF is to stop you getting bits out of it. My usual trick is to get what I want on screen and hit the "Print Screen" key which stuffs the whole display into the clipboard and I can pick it up in paintbrush and cut-and-stick out the bit I want.

I suspect there are tools to do it but I'm far to lazy to hunt for them.

Pierre

It depends on how the PDF is created - you can certainly select text with the Reader if the PDF was created from a text file rather than a scan.

However you need Acrobat itself to extract graphics.

Could you post the url for the PDF, or do you want an email address to send it to me. I have Acrobat and will see what I can do.

If you use "ALT & PRT SCN" you just copy the top window onto the clipboard.

Evolution

I had one in my hands 2 weeks ago for the Evolution Instructor update.

Well made, easy access to cells that have new connectors, much improvement on the Molex connectors. Cells are in more or less the same location as before.

Looks like a good piece of kit and I have had one on order for over 18 months, so when I get it I will post some pics.

Cheers

Dave Cooper
