Any news on the "mini me" Evolution

I placed an order an evolution at the NEC dive show.

AP said it would available in Jan, and that 20 pre production units have been made for "hairy" Mike to test.
I also understand the "Instructors" have been down to the factory for training.

Haven't heard anything for a while.

Does anybody know anymore.

Its getting near christmas and the boy is looking forward to playing with his new toy.

The rumer is that the first batch are ready and will all be shiped to every instructor at the same time so as not to piss any one off with favoritisum claims. I herd this was hapening in January and that the first batch of units to jo public would folow shortly. The Instructors training day has been and gone but there were still issues with the units so no instructros got to take the units home to play with.

Pete is looking to get his Insperation Vision in Feb. He is No 25 on the waiting list.

What you can gather from this I have no idea. Pete was told catagoricly that his unit would be ready in August 04 then he was told delayed but October no probelm. Then he was told should be before Christmas, now he ben told February.

His order is for £45,000 worth of units

So you think they would treat him nice

Nicky at Helston thanked me for my patience and told me that my instructor would contact me when they are ready. The production line is being fine tuned...
Odin...also having ordered at the NEC....

Unhappy Long Waits 'R Us

I saw the evolution at the NEC in 2003!, just before ordering its big brother. (In fact 2 as this is a couple thing). Given the amount of foreign diving I do I decided to wait until the Evo was available. In Sep 03 it was due in Jan 04. Since then the date has slipped to April then August then November and now (hopefully) January 05. Frustration levels have not been helped by the very little information coming out of AP. I don't know how many units will come off the production line per week when they get going, but our 2 units (officially ordered Feb 04, but are part of a larger instructor order made prior to that) are about half way down the list of some 200 units on order in total.

At least you all haven't had to pay for your units, my YBOD has been ready since the 25th Nov and I have now paid in full. I won't get it until the end of February as they didn't do anything about an export licence.

Thumbs down

As one of the Instructors who attended the training update and one of the first to place an order, in May 2003 I believe, I too am eagerly awaiting the beast.

I spoke to AP the other day and was told no way was I getting my unit before Christmas.

Mark says they are ready to be delivered to us Instructors in January, but I really am not convinced. However I will be happy to be proved wrong......

As it is I am collecting a Megalodon late January and have a funny feeling I will see that before the Evolution.

Cheers

Dave Cooper
