Inspiration mouthpiece

Hi all

My 2 year old Inspiration mouthpiece is stiff to turn on land. In the water I cant move it. Ive stripped it down cleaned and lubed.
Other than send it back to AP or more Lubricant are there any sugestions?

Thanks

Has it been like this for the last two years or has this just got worse? If it has just got worse then strip it down and clean and re grease.

Mine was stiff from new (oohhh eerrr)and finaly got it changed at the dive show, AP didn't bat an eyelid, just gave me a new one.

Its a common problem. Send it back to AP to get a replacement.

I know a few people with this problem, some are very stiff and need two hands to close in or out of the mouth and stripping it and cleaning seems to make no difference. My own is still very easy to move after nearly eight months of use. I think it just depends on the individual mouthpiece.

Cheers

Simon

Hi .

Mine was the same so I rang them up, they said send it down along with the mouthpeice hose assembly, low and behold 3 days later it was returned working perfect, and they tested the hose and found a minute hole in the rubber so they changed that for me as well, wonderfull people, and no charge.

Shaun,
Have you tried adjusting the two hose connecting nuts either side of the mouthpiece. These are locked in place by small grub screws and need to be reassembled carefully into their original positions. Overtightening these nuts causes them to pinch the O rings and makes turning the mouthpiece difficult. On land try backing off one of these large nuts slightly. If the mouthpiece starts to rotate freely this could be the problem. Do not overdo it or you will create a leak.
I have found the mouthpiece to be the most difficult part of the unit to maintain. I usually need two attempts to get it right every time I strip it down. If all else fails send it back to AP.
