Talking First time on YBOD
I finally got to use a YBOD today, only in the pool but am now even more excited about the arrival of my unit next month.

I had the same problems as everyone I imagine, crap buoyancy control etc but nothing serious, I managed to complete all the drills within 40 mins so I was pleased with that, I then spent more time just swimming around getting used to the unit.

I'm supposed to be going out for a couple of OW dives tomorrow but due to my having been sick several times in the last few hours I may have to cancel, we shall see in the morning.

I know when I tried a YBOD I was all over the place in the pool.

My bout of food poisoining cleared at around 2am this morning when the associated fever broke (it was a bad attack) so I decided to go for the first two OW dives on the box.

Dive 1 wasn't particularly comfortable, I had 3kg on top of the box and 6kg on my weightbelt but my head was decidedly floaty throughout the dive, on dive 2 I removed 2kg from the belt and the situation improved greatly.

The skills/drills went through no problem, it was an odd dive site though as there were probably another 100 or so divers there taking part in a reef clean-up post the Tsunami, there was a lot of debris to bring up including the stock of a dive shop. My Instructor brought up a new fin, a new boxed mask and a Bacardi Breezer, very unusual stuff to find. I found a boxed power drill but as my hands were occupied I thought it best to avoid lugging it around.

Tomorrow sees dive 3 & 4 then hopefully my first post-training dive on the unitm, this is also our first diving off Phi-Phi island so we're interested to assess the damage to the reefs there.
