MOD1 Completed

I completed the IART MOD1 course today so feeling very pleased with myself, only another few months and I might be competent on my kit.

The only concern I have is that I have cut my mouth, does anyone use a Jaxx mouthpiece on their Inspiration? I would like to use one if possible as I find it more comfortable.

Ian

Congratulations mate! You're in the best place to rack up zillions of hours too, you jammy git..

As regards the JAX mouthpice, never tried it myself, I've got a sort of comfi-bite jobbie on mine which works really well. However, I've lifted this off the Inspiration list for you - be interesting to hear what others' opinions on the following are...

I discussed with them the possibility of making a mouthpiece specially for
the Inspiration BUT in the end we couldn't come to an agreement about how
far the jaw should be open.

The Jax salesman and designer regard it as being important that the jaw is
relaxed as possible - the problem is: - their design, results in the jaw
closing so much that you then find it much harder to breathe. There are two
black pegs which you leave in the moulding while you heat the mouthpiece and
bite down on it. These are supposed to prop the jaw open sufficiently - but
they don't. It is really difficult to breathe through the Jax m/piece - you
end up breathing through your teeth.

As I've stated before - anything that increases the work of breathing is to
be avoided.

Hi Ian,

About 2 years or so ago, when I had Bob's OC/DSV I used a Seacure Professional mouthpiece, the trick was to not fully clamp your jaws when moulding it.

That worked for a year or so until I outed the OC/DSV.

It was about the size of a Poseidon fit to the mouthpiece, but I never used it on the factory mouthpiece.

I find the factory mouthpiece is fine.

Cheers,

Dave Cooper

P.S. Congratulations on finishing your Mod 1.

Hi Rob,

Basically as I was then teaching Mod 1 and Mod 2 courses on the unit, I ditched it as it was non CE. No good for demonstrating skills. I wasn't too impressed with the Dacor Viper as a bailout reg either.

Apart from that it was a good piece of kit. I have got Bob's plug in gas-management connectors as well, but I don't use those anymore either.

Cheers

Dave Cooper

Hi,
First of all, congratulation
I've been using a Seacure mouthpiece fist in OC for 2 years, later 1.5 years in a Dolphin, and now waiting for my Inspiration and with my mouthpiece ready to get fit on it. It is the same mouthpiece.
Hope in two weeks i will be yellow...
Regards.
