Angry Will I ever see my box?

My YBOD was ready to ship on the 25th November, due to a couple of screw ups nothing was done regarding raising an export licence and towards the end of December it was decided that instead of shipping the unit via Malaysia that it would be sent to Germany to come over next month with a guy on holiday. TNT ended up taking the unit to Germany then back to APD for some unknown reason before finally delivering it to Germany two weeks ago. The guy who was going to bring it out checked the unit out and said it's all there and working correctly and he'd be out on the 26th Feb.

I get home last night to an email telling me that he has had surgery on his jaw which means no diving for at least 6 months and he will no longer be coming out here this month. Just what do I have to do to get hold of a rebreather? this whole thing has been a farce from the start and I really wish I'd just bought a second hand unit. I have never spent so much money on something that I'm sick to death of before I even receive it.

Ian,
You have my sympathies.
It seems that the dive gods are against you!

Can ask how much it was going to cost you to get it from Germany to Thailand?

I have an idea, but i'll have to find out if it's feasable.

Regards
Simon A

It would have been free as the guy bringing it worked for Lufthansa, I'm currently looking at getting it shipped to my Mothers in Scotland. I'm not happy to have it shipped here as customs would get hold of it and you are then locked in a battle over duty (bribes more like)

Ian,
that's a shame, if the guy works for Lufthansa can he not ask one of his co-workers to bing it out? If you offer them a couple of days OC diving for their trouble (how much would it cost to put someone through their OW course out there?)

We are investigating the possibility of my wife returning to the UK for a week and bringing it back out with her. We are possibly moving back to the UK in late June anyway so it is a moot point whether there is much sense in bringing it out here anyway. I wanted to gain experience on the unit prior to visiting Scapa later this year but the longer the unit takes to get here the greater the likelihood of my finding more work and leaving Thailand myself.

All in all this has been a painfull experience for me, I bitterly regret having bought an Inspiration at this stage and just hope there are no faults with the damn thing when I finally get my hands on it.

If it's going to take so long to get hold of, is it worth seeing if AP will take it back as an unused unit, and credit it's value against an evolution when it's available?
