Kt Re-breather Box

For those who have asked for some pictures of the NEW flat pack Re-Breather box fully rigged here they are.

Looking into the box from the rear

Back view with the lid in place

Side view of the unit with lid in place showing the lid supports stopping the sides being pulled apart, the cylinders are attached on to the NEW sides

Looking in from the top of the unit, the lid is held in place using the pins we use on the pony brackets for the BORIS Re-Breather

The vision base is here just need to make sure the modifications are correct.

We are just about to have some more manufactured as the demand for the box has made us increase the production of the box so those who are interested in the boxes, please either contact me or send me a PM, the delivery time is 3-4 weeks.

With the new sides there is no need to use any brackets only cam bands when using the box abroad or with the 3ltr cylinders.

Here are some photos of the new modified base to accept the vision electronics.

The new base keeps all the hoses at the correct lenght due to the cannister being mounted the same as in the yellow box.

I would like to thank Tim AKA Air chessel for all the hard work he has done in getting this correct, the pictures below are of his unit.

The new side pannel with the vision base

Good work John,

any idea of the weight for the frame and unit ready to dive and the cost. with it being flat pack it looks a great way for taking the unit abroad.

I took my vision to dahab last month. The weight was not that much of a problem it was the bulk of the unit that caused the prob's. the only way was to use the yellow and black flight case which is a PITA, but i know liveaboards dont like gear gullpers so this looks a good solution for taking the unit aborad on liveaboards etc, flat pack in a bag and build up on arrival.

The weight of the box is just over 5kg

I think if it is total riged with the AP Valves wing & harness is 32kg

When i am wearing the unit in my frame i find it is more comfortable than the yellow box, it stands up right with it fully riged,

The reason for the box designed like it is that you are able to strip it down and take the whole unit on a plane instead of getting it in a suit case.

The cost of the box is £280.00 plus delivery

If any of you have any questions regarding this you can contact me on the number attached

Talking KT box configuration

Thanks John for a speedy resolution to accepting the vision canister. After several hours on the phone and extensive use of a tape measure John hit the nail first time and on arrival at his place we built the box up with no problems. One of the real bonuses now is the flexibility this offers. We swapped 5's, 3's and standard (non AP valved) cylinders on within a matter of minutes for John's photos. Weather pending it will be getting wet this weekend. I took another Vision diver with me and he ordered two (one for him and his other half) there and then.

Thumbs up

I saw one of these at the NDC on Saturday being set up - looked like a good piece of design there John.

Nice one.

Disclaimer: I am not a rebreather diver but a design engineer and it looked good to me.

mounting 4 x 3ltrs?

How is the frame size wise for mounting 2 x 3ltr cyls per side?

I normally run external mounts as part of my suit/a-bag inflation and O2 bailout rig.

Talking Yes & some !

If you really want to go mad you can just about fit a 3l + 7l cylinder to each side but it will kill your back & it is a bitch to trim properly . I dive the vision version & can fit 2x3L each side & with carefull positioning a 1.5L suit inflation in the space under the scrubber .
