The value of S/H classic electronics?

Mornan all!

Well this is a new part of YD for me...

Thinking of joining the ranks of YBODers, finally. It's been on my mind for a while, like 4 years, but always resisted. An SCR instructor, but never even tried CCR, until now...

Now I have been offered a set of S/H classic electronics. Not sure on the number of dives, but they have three brand new cells, both handsets work, including backlights, although the magnets will require replacing.

The scrubber unit, hoses, connections, etc, are all complete and appear in good shape. I will be diving them this next week when I do my course

The seller, a chum of mine, has no idea of the value of them (they are his SPARE set and he needs the dosh), and me as a CCR newbie who only has experience on SCR have no idea either.

So what do you guys think? What's a reasonable price for this?

And before you ask, I have easy access to a shell when I need one, so I wont be needing to buy that for a while.

Thanks in advance!

TG

I've heard of a few classic heads changing hands for about £1000 maybe a bit more if you are getting the whole scrubber with it aswell. Most of these have been people upgrading to the vision electronics.

What are you going to do for all the other bits you need like lungs, harness, case and wing?

Second hand units seem to be going for about £2000 or even a bit more or less depending on how much extra kit comes with it.

Cheers

Simon

That may well be what people are asking for classic heads but I cant actualy see anyone getting that for one.
Having just built up an Inspo classic from what someone was selling after a vision upgrade. I reckon that if the classic head, scrubber basket and scrubber canister cost you more than £800, it would make more sense to spend £2500 or so on a complete second hand unit with an ADV.

Just for comparison I paid £950 for mine with an Inspiration DSV and an unused 4th/5th Cell holder and the complete unit cost me £2100 +1st stages +cylinders +wing and harness +2nd stage for bailout.

Had I not already bought a load of the Inspiration parts that I was using on a homebuild and transfered over, it would have made better financial sense to buy a complete second hand unit.
