hi all

just to say that i have just completed my ccr course and did my first dive without the instructir watching over me at the weekend. what a disaster! bad buoyancy, polarisded to the surface from 20m. well pissed off! though in my defence i have to say that i suspect my adv not functioning properly... even adding dil when in off position. any one else had this problem. am awaiting response from ap

Dont worry too much about it...remember the first time you were out in your car, alone after passing your driving test. having that licence doesn't make you that expert, its the time that follows when you really learn. Get back in and practice, practice, practice. It will come with time.

The AP designed ADV is a good piece of kit. In my experience have never seen it work improperly. As a redundant safety did you have a flow stop in-line to the ADV or did you try to control dil. flow to the ADV using your on/off valve?

On another note stuff always happens in diving. Loop floods, goofy sensors, leccie malfunctions, etc. Sometimes that how we learn the best.

I recall Howie (Diving Dude) first attempts in a quarry on his Inspro, bloody awful he was too. He thought it so bad he almost flogged it, he loves it now though. I'm sure you will master it in due course.

Learn from it

I always think its a good thing to really mess it up fairly soon after the course .Otherwise you pass the course ,go diving & everything goes well & you think well this is easy & get complacent then the damned thing turn round & bite back when you least expect it & you "think " you're a good rb diver .From what I've been told its normally around the 50 - 60 dives logged mark ,certainly it was at 63 dives on OC that I got a wake up call !
