about £350 john plus the usual bit of import ,its a nice bit of kit prob the best HUD on the market at the moment with the way it diplays its info.
The big plus bruce is a nice guy to deal with.
i had a choice move onto another rebreather or sort the one i had.
seems like everyone available has "issues " in one form or another ,its not about the money .
The conduct of APD did me a favour & after 6 cracked handsets and a load of bullshit i decided to rebuild the thing meself.
i served my time in electrial engineering so can't say it was a complex thing to do.
think i can now put cracked handsets to bed for good.
there is an intresting story to be told about this project and APD
more of that later

impressed, so why does everyone take them back in to get the same design of handsets put back on? is it your own loom you made up from scratch?

prob due to conduct like this mike,

when i sent my head in the beginning of this year i knew it had cracked handsets as it had let me down on a 45m dive and on inspection that was the cause.
i sent em in and so the games began.
i had a feeling no one had pushed this issue as far as it would go ie not agreeing to a repair.
got the usual call your handsets are cracked and the repair will be x amount is that ok.
no said i ,i would like to speak to Mr Parker.
2 weeks went by no reply so i sent em an e-mail asking for the return of my handsets unrepaired as it was obviously going nowhere.
The following day i get a call from Mr Parker to discuss this weak design.
the conversation was pointless as the only thing he was intrersted in was quoting my handsets history and the price to fix em.

There was a mention of them being long enough to just fit under the unit and that i should fit neoprene socks to each handset to "protect em".
Also came out with a classic" the best customers are the ones who don't dive"
Enough said i , send em back unrepaired i think 6 cracked handsets is more than just bad luck .
fine said he we will have to put a do not use sticker on ,no prob said i.
matter closed as far as i was concerned.

I then get an e-mail from the service dept telling me that APD have spoken to trading standards & the HSE and have been advised to DESTROY my lid rather than send it back unrepaired.
they then go on to say they will not take this course of action but i should seriously consider paying up.
feck off says i and eventually i get my lid back in a plastic bag stripped with 6 major components missing.
A phone call and said parts are returned.
project Despiration is born.
yes mike i did make a new loom along with everything else.

Elfyn your a star M8 Have some green for telling AP to shove it.

Making the coustomer pay for what is in fact their own crap design, is beneath contempt.

Thumbs up

Good for you Elfyn, I think APD are a right bunch of cowboys for some of the horror stories which circulate about their service and crap design.

Imagine if a similar thing happened with your car.

Dealership "... so the quote for the service of your car will be £XXXX".

Punter "Thats ridiculous, I'll just take it back and service it myself"

Dealership " Sorry sir but the Ministry of Transport have advised us to have your car scrapped unles you pay our price for the service of your car, which is nesseccary due to our bad design of the car.

Na, that Car Co would soon go under.
