    Exclamation classic inspo switches off

    did you know?

    all the talk of battery bounce had me thinking is it just battery bounce that turnes the classic inspo off?
    you can turn a classic off without touching the micro switches and leaving the switches turned on!

    if you push up the 2 outside sliders together on the master the handset will turn off and beep then the slave will swap to the master but the microswitch will still be in the on position

    if you turn the slave off 1st like this the is no beep so you wont know unless you look at your slave!

    this is easy to do with gloved hands when pushing the slider up to turn the back light on and you can catch the center slider as well turning the handset off
    it is easy to catch the handset sliders when getting in the water as well as they are moving around!

    did your instructor teach you this?
    do they know about it?
    i have asked 10/15 people on here that never knew about it!

    Yes, it's to test all 3 switches.

    Left switch (Turns unit on) and if unit turns off when other 2 are pushed, then you know all 3 switches are working.

    That's why I always use the slave to monitor the PPO2, if you use the master, the slave could have been switched off without you knowing and you then get no warning if the master gets switched off.

    Frankly any instructor I came across who didn't teach this on a course doesn't deserve to get paid.

    I don't even have an Inspo ticket and I know this. It was one of the first things I was told to do - watch your slave on a dive, because if this happens you could die pretty nicely without a single beep...

    Ada, can you clarify as I wasn't aware of this. Your posts says the outside sliders, then in another place you say the centre and outside sliders.

    The outside sliders surely just put you into the menu, not switch off the handset.

    Will need to dig out the manual when I get home, but I seem to remember this being described in the manual. If I remember correctly, it switches the handset off, but not the controller????
    wet again, how long do these damn suits last for?
