I think Trigene is what Buddy clean is made out of.
I used Trigene when I first started diving RB. I maybe didn't rinse the RB enough or didn't dilute the trigene enough. Whille at 35m my breathe was taken and my throat dried out leaving me choking. I had to bail and the only thing it could have been is the Trigene.
Since then I have used Virkon. Sph Pet Supplies, Pet Suppliers Wholesale and Retail, Pet Food and Bedding You get this from farm/animal shops. Its a disinfectant, very strong and very safe. It tells you exactly how to dilute it. Never had a problem with this.
I'm quite sure there are many people who have had no problems with Trigene but I did.

As for buddy clean I had the same problems as Shaun when I started out. (Not rinsing the stuff out properly and getting a taste/dry boak) I think that Virkon is the way to go.

Similar thing happened to me with Virkon. Horrible taste that got so bad at depth that I had to bailout to avoid vomiting. I don't think it's so much the product but getting it both properly diluted and properly rinsed.

The pet version of Virkon is exactly the same stuff as the DEFRA approved stuff, the only difference is that they don't guarantee it's effectiveness in the same way as they have to with the agricultural grade (from the rep when he was in the local farm shop). I think there is a different fragrance added as well.

Probably not the best but I just use water. Occasionally. As in I can't remember the last time...

Cheers,

Stuart

Bubblefree saw the sea in a book once
I always use buddy clean, a quick squirt down the loop and lots of fresh water to rinse it out. i have had a problem only if I haven't given it a thorough rinse out.

I have had the quick release mods to the CL's which IMHO is a plus as it enables them to be drained after rinsing.

Cheers

take it for a dive, flood it then drain it off!

well thats what I did with mine!

unless you know of a particular airborne infection the previous owner had (that stayed effective after a few days then I see there is nothing to realy worry about

Fin (stil alive after many goes on second hand units)

think try dives at the dive show!!!!!

What's wrong with buddy clean?

I know people who use their own breath on a good day, and they manage allright.

(Personally I use fresh water rinses).
