I don't no what the legal requirements for insurance in Egypt are but as I understand it as long as you, A] meet those requirements and B] are in Teaching Status on the Date of Student certification {ie the date on the Pic] there should not be an issue with Certs issued.

How Unlike Bristol to be on VOICE MAIL
Exactly what I did. Fax it with a cover letter outside of business hours, and strongly request a response asap due to "easter break" etc.... I faxed my stuff through Friday night, left a message on Sean Das's voicemail monday, and received my "back in status, but your responsibility to check" etc letter today.

BTW, I also have DAN insurance with the Luxus cover, so all the bases are covered as far as PADI Int'l are concerned, but as already mentioned, they haven't read the small print.......

Has anyone got details of what the required insurance levels are - I'm not at home for a while so won't be able to get to my letter and want to check out the various DAN offerings!

Cheers,
Simon

Hya Simon,

I have the DAN Basic Professional with Luxus legal defence. That meets PADI's requirement. The code is ..............BPL it is £113.

If anyone is at the outdoor show at the NEC this weekend take a copy of your Insrance cert and give it to PADI personally.

If you are there come and say hello. Dive In Cyprus stand.

Cheers

Jonno

Thanks for that - unfortunately I wanted the limits because I wanted to check if the DAN 'Non-Individual' cover would meet the required limits so I could use it for myself and the better half.

Cheers though,
Simon

Herewith emails as promised. I'll post anything else I hear.

Hi Clare,
Thank you very much for getting in touch and bringing this information to PIL's attention - it's really appreciated.
The information has been forwarded to Mark Caney, Vice President Training, Education and Memberships, here at PADI International Ltd, who will respond to you shortly.
I hope all is well with yourself, and Bonnie and I look forward to working with you again in the future.
Kind regards,
Deborah

Mark Caney, Vice President Training etc at Padi International just called me to say that they have had all sorts of problems with this.

Apparantly, out of their 20,000 instructor grades, there were a large number of people who did not have insurance and an equally large number who wanted an OK on their policy - which meant that the department dealing with it fell a long way behind with the admin.

Whether PADI should have seen this coming is a matter for them - I make no comment. On top of this, they have had a computer failure which means that they cannot be sure which emails they have recieved have been dealt with and which haven't.

He assures me that he has put extra resources into the department dealing with the enquiries and tells me that the backlog should be cleared within in the next week. Everyone who has emailed in the last few weeks will recieve an email asking whether their query has been dealt with and telling them to get in touch again if it remains outstanding.

I have his personal number and email, which he has asked me not to release, but if there are any really urgent cases which are causing hardship, let me know and I will contact him direct.

I would like to point out that I do not work for PADI in any way - just thought it might be helpful for some one to kick a$$

Back on track

Guys can we please bring this topic back on track...

If you are after advice and assistance on agencies not supplying certs or un-ethical instructors who take your money and run please start a new thread or if you are happy I will attempt to split your posts into a new thread.

This revocation of teaching status is affecting a lot of instructors and there is some important information coming out of this thread that may assist them.

Thanks,
Daz

(UPDATE :- Thread split by popular demand. Seperate thread on non issue of certificates created here :- http://www.yorkshire-divers.co.uk/fo...ad.php?t=17712 )

Angry

I've sent a scanned copy of my insurance in, and got response today from Sean Das - not good enough. What bugs me is that when I took it out in April 2004 it was the best that DAN offered, with the extra european supplement. I looked today and found this new Lexus crap. What makes the UK different from PADI Europe 11 months ago, or is this another PADI conspiracy?

It seems that the only differance between the 2 is PIL cover is unlimited legal defence but the PADI Europe is limited to €150,000 for legal defence.
