If you have a Valid insurance certificate that meets The requirements of PADI Int, FAX it to the number stated in the letter from PADI [and KEEP the transmission report] and the ball is then in there court! I don't no what the legal requirements for insurance in Egypt are but as I understand it as long as you, A] meet those requirements and B] are in Teaching Status on the Date of Student certification {ie the date on the Pic] there should not be an issue with Certs issued. How Unlike Bristol to be on VOICE MAIL

| I took DAN insurance to cover the new insurance requirement. PADI sent a letter saying they had not checked the DAN coverage and it is my responsibility to ensure that it does indeed cover their requirements. They also included a list of things I should check such as student age limits covered by the insurance. I'm pretty sure everything is covered, but it's a bit strange that they can't be bothered to check DAN's coverage, as there must be loads of us who use it in preference to the PADI recommended deal. Maybe it's because they don't want to encourage use of DAN - I wonder if PADI gets commission on their recommended scheme?

Could it be anything to do with the fact you've just suggested half the PADI Instructors could be out of Teaching Status by the end of the month after taking about a £100 quid off them to renew for a year? Call me a cynic but........

Scan Your Certificate. Attach it to an E. mail to Erick Alberson! Just an Option but me thinks you would have COMPLIED in full! Cheers. Paul.

You read my mind; I did that one as well. E mail to Eric got an "out of office" reply and to contact Ben Toms. E mailed him.......and guess what....got an "out of office" reply! Just to add to the cynicism, Eric signs the letter, sends them all out, then goes "out of office" 'till God knows when, leaving the phone numbers of some underlings who presumably took some serious tish on Friday. Deals with the angry e mails by putting a divert in place to someone else who is on leave. PADI....bless 'em!!!!

| Email someone at the top in the states. It's amazing how fast PADI in the UK get their backsides into gear when the yanks get on the phone to them. Trust me, it does work. |

| I had some problems myself last year. I sent off a copy of my renewed insurance certificate and on the PADI-pro site my teaching status was up to date. Without warning a few months later, I noticed on the site I was in non-teaching status. When I inquired, they told me they had no record of my insurance. They had managed to lose my certificate, and rather than contact me, they dropped my teaching status without notifying me. I found out rather by accident, and after a phone call to PADI Americas and a fax of my certificate, they restored my teaching status. Annoying to say the least how it was handled |

| I too had the same experience as you John regarding my DAN insurance. When I sent all the details of PADI's letter to DAN they reassured me that they covered this and more... in fact their cover is better than the one that is on offer in conjunction with PADI. I must admit, I would have thought that PADI would at least have the information regarding the main contenders on this one. It also sounds a little worrying when I hear stories like Warren's where they can just ditch your teaching status like that, no questions asked or no warning given:| I must admit, I just always take my certificate with me as a safeguard anyway. Have fun teaching in the Red Sea... Seems everyone is going to be there this Easter! |

| I've drawn this thread to the attention of PADI PR who I worked with briefly last month - if they have any sense they will see that publicity like this does no-one any favours and get on to the case. HTH -
