Headache!!!

Both the books you've mentioned are very light on deco theory, try either the PADI Encyclopedia or better yet the Diving Knowledge Workbook which is a fantastic way to improve your grasp of everything you need to know, not just in this subject but all accross the board for your DM exams.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Kev.

Mark Powell runs a very comprenesive "intro to deco theory" not sure if this can be run as a ono to one or for a larger ordience but is very good and made lots of things become clearer.

He's on the board but in Cyprus at the moment try emailing him.

Lippman's 'Deeper Into Diving' is very good.

It also has comparisons of all of the major tables (when it was printed, it's about 10 years old now) for most types of dive - single, multi-level and multiple dives/day.

OK I'm bored and I'm spending the rest of the week in the Black Pits of Hell (or Central London as it is sometimes known).

I started to write something but realised that I wrote it up once before....

(part 2 isn't really finished)

Thanks Kev.
I have checked out both books and in the encyclopidia their is only one page for Haldane what I need is more detail for the calculations that one has to do .In the divmaster manual there are only two examples, and I feel this is not enough for me to fully understand it ,Unlike the RDP booklet that goes into a good amount of detail with examples to boot.
The only conclusion I can come up with due to the lack of info is that it is not a great concern, but has to be covered as the guy divised the RDP.

The PADI stuff is crap. Go for something like Bob Cole's Deco Matrix or read Nigels' stuff if you can make your way through it.

The DM exams must have changes since my day if this sort of thing is in them. I remember inflating some balloons at various depths and trying to explain what use a snorkel is when diving. Piss easy stuff and designed for your burger eating yank.....

bennett and elliot - Physiology and medicine of diving. Bloody good book - takes a while to understand though. I have all of the decompression theory moudle I did at cranfield if you want a copy of the notes (if you can understand them).
