PADI AOW. Going 'private'

The situation is that I would love to get my AOW ticket before I go off to Dubai in a little less than four weeks.

The training centres and schools etc all have to set up courses to meet the needs of the majority of their students, which is reasonable. The trouble for me, with child care constraints, is that weekends are pretty much out of the question, and I have severe time limits during the week.

With all this borne in mind, is it possible to 'hire' a PADI instructor on a one-to-one basis to fit in with my time availability, and if so, is there such an animal on YD who might be able to help me out, with diving to take place at Stoney?

alternatively as the AOW is essentially modular you may be able to tick off the 5 adventure dives by dipping into a few organised AOW courses.

The schools at Guildy and Stoney would probably be able to arrange something

Another alternative is a Bsac school possibly. I'm assuming a Bsac qual (Sport Diver) would be recognised.

There are a large number of independent PADI instructors on YD so a one-to-one is probably possible. I doubt it would be cheap as whoever took you on the dives would aso have to pay for suitable surface cover and a safety diver but if thats not a problem then you should be able to get your AOW finished in a could of days.

Phil,

I know it's not stoney, but it's a bit more real. If you can make it down to Plymouth for Monday 24th and Tuesday 25th, we could run an Advanced course for our normal rate of £250 all incl. of boat, gear, manuals, air etc. Dives are looking likely to be Scylla, James Egan Layne, Persier, Hillsea Point, + low viz nav. Local B&B is £23 per night incl full cooked breakfast.

All hardboat dives, cept maybe the navigation dive, where we often take you somewhere with 1m viz just so you can't cheat

If the dates don't suit but you are interested, give me a shout as we could set up alternatives.
