Question for DM’s and Instructors
What rate of pay would a DM expect hourly or daily?

Depends where you are. Normally about half of what you actually need to live on.

OK - couple of questions

1) Where?

2) If in the UK, are the DM's paying for their own HSE's & insurance?


Basically - we don't 'pay' our DM's. But we do pay all of their costs for any courses they are involved in air, accommodation, transport, entry and any boat fees. We also supply them kit @ cost, same with any trips that we run (unless of course they are helping out in which case they get the trips free).

We do pay them a commission on any students they provide - although that again will generally be in kit/diving associated rather than actual hard cash.

In the uk. I will also being helping at pool sessions and at puddles over weekends.

Working as a *full time* member of staff as a DM I would expect min. wage. As a part time DM helping out I'd expect free air fills and a discount on stuff that I bought. Maybe some petrol money if I was doing a lot travelling. You don't DM for the money - let's face it!

I was lead to belive DM's work for the love of it!
Why should they get paid for playing at being profesionals when they have a job already?
