| Ouch, I have heard that some schools/clubs do pay. I would like to add this aimed at PADI boys and Girls. |

| £50 - £70 per day (sometimes 12 hours) is about normal down here.

| working for yourself it depends on the following factors 1. location of course 2. accommodation charges 3. number of students ( having only 1 student on a basic course is a definte loss situation, 2 students will move it up to around £40 - £55 per day) 4. Materials cost 5. etc etc etc There is no money in one student courses and if you do it properly and pay your DM a daily rate and give your shore support a daily rate then you need at least 4 students to make a days money. I think all instructors should be paid for open water and pool sessions as it is work (im lucky that i do get paid for both) i still fail to see why instructors work for nothing and continue to line the pockets of dive school owners with money. What other professional would work for nothing? In my opinion if a dive school cannot afford to pay its instructors then it is not a viable business full stop and dont believe the old cobblers from the school owners that they dont take a wage. Dont expect to make loads of money because I doubt you will and also expect lean periods because you will get them. Do it well and put your heart and soul into it and care about the people you teach to dive and I honestly cant think of more rewarding thing to do in life Last edited by hammerheads : 22-05-08 at 10:36 PM. |
