| Afternoon Afternoon Ladies and gentlemen, just joined up as I am doing a little research before I look to start learning to dive. I plan on having a honeymoon next year and to allow me to escape from the misses I plan to go diving to look at all the nice fish that are to big to fit in my marine tank. I have done several free try dives whilst on holiday and also a 30min dive in Crypus, but have now decided to take it further and learn to dive and obtain a qulifaction. Therefore any advice you can offer is welcomed. |

| Yer, sorry. I am from not so sunny Kent, Margate in fact. |

| Oh, in that case you'll have a lot of options. Do you want to do it gradually over a long period? (consider a club) Or do you want to do it quickly? (consider a school) <£100 for a club, ca £300 for a school Do you want to dive in the UK? If so then finish your training here. If not then consider a referral....i.e. do half in a school here but do the sea stuff in warmer climes. Just a few idea to start you thinking

| Yes I'd agree with conor, the training is split between calssroom work, pool work and open water (calm sea, etc..) Why not contact a local place and look into doing the classroom work here, then get a referal to a school/resort where you plan to Honeymoon. Save spending all that money to sit in a classroom reading books. Dave C |

| OK, advice: don't spend your honeymoon doing a diving course. Spend it shagging. In fact, don't go diving on your honeymoon at all, unless your wife does it with you. Having a partner who dives is very cool, and will make your diving career much easier (if more expensive!) in future.

| The sea work you do on the other side of a referral is pretty much a run through the skills and then you are off diving.....if you are going to dive on holiday then you may as well make the first 4 dives you qualifying dives IMHO

| I would prefer to get up to speed over here and then the only thing I need to worry about is actual diving. I have been reading up on the padi open water course is this any good as a starter or what would you recommend. I dont mind studying, but would prefer self study at home or work (whilst im getting paid). |
