Smile Hello All

Another noob. I’ve recently completed the PADI O/W Diver course. I’ve got a few odds and ends equipment wise, but still need them major items suit, regs etc. I’ll be doing a lot of lurking around the forums and posting the odd question, mainly about kit I expect.

I’m quite tall at 6.2 and I’m around 2 stone overweight (nice beer belly), so I’ve decided to curtail my diving activities until I’ve shed some weight before investing in the equipment. That is, I don’t want to look like a whale. I’m only 32 and the open water parts of the course have really brought home how unfit I’ve become over the last couple of years.

Hi and welcome. I think you're very sensible. A wander around any popular dive site will demonstrate just how trim and athletic most divers are...

Hi & Welcome to YD.

Just get wet and stay within your limits, dont worry about being a wippet.

Lots of Dive gear comes in "Relaxed" sizes.

Davie.

Let's compare your situation to mine...

32 - yup.
6ft2 - yup.
2 stone overweight - err... yup.

Don't worry about it. It's great - get your kit and get diving - the more diving you do the fitter you get

And welcome to YD

Thanks for all your comments

I take the points about just getting on with it and enjoying it, but I want to use diving as my goal/reward and I don’t want to waste money on a suit that won’t last me. I’ve also felt that my lack of fitness has to a degree spoilt my enjoyment of my dives todate.
