Thumbs up Oldby...

Hi Folks,

I'm Dave. I'm a BSAC diver in Suffolk (East Anglia). I started diving in 2003 with my missus, Josie. We attended a local trydive session in Edinburgh and signed up there and then. I have always enjoyed swimming, and this lead to snorkling in my teens on holiday in the Med. I had my first Try dive in Menorca whilst on Holiday with the folks. I really enjoyed it even though the intrsuctor held my hand underwater with me looking about to make sure no one could see me holding his hand. I really wanted to learn to dive then and there but as a student it was a little beyond my means. I had a part time job too which meant I couldn't do both at the same time.

We Started training in Jan 2003 with a club in Edinburgh called Divetech. We soon progressed to Sports diver, gaining TDI Advanced Nitrox along the way, on a YD gig in the Lakes with Andy Hayhurst. I went on to gain Deco procs in 2004 when I bought a Twinset. I got into YD at first as I was trawlling the Interweb for info on Diving. My problem was the club had booked up all the diving for the year and we were in a Catch 22 as we had no experience so could not dive with the club, but could not get any experience as we couldn't get on any dives. My first YD gig was down in Anglessy with And(y) (Wet lettice), Gavin Yates, The Bunny Team, Mark Davies, Fiona B and a few others. They didn't have any pre-requestits so Josie and I joined them for a great days diving. On the Sunday we joined yet more YD divers at Capernwray.

After this I got into YD in a big way, nearly loosing my job in the process. Too much interwebbing and not enough working

I've met lots of really great freinds from this place and have been on many great dives from Scotlands east and west coasts, the lakes, Norway and recently the South Coast. The great thing I've found whilst being on here is that no matter where I am in the UK I can hook up with a local diver, usually a good freind after these past few years, for some great diving. This is not as easy if you stick soley to Club diving, as new clubs I've approached want to do a checkout dive first.

Lately I've invested (cough) in a Classic KISS rebreather. I'm hoping to get a course booked for spring 2007, but the immediate future holds exciting new adventures for us as Josie is expecting our first Baby in a little over 5 weeks.

Dave C

Hello again mate, and you probably need to think about selling the new KISS babies always cost more than you think

Safe diving,
Steve

Like any expensive hobby sooner or later you have to make some tough decisions and get your priorities right. Now, I know you've made a big investment here (particuarly Josie - 9 months to be exact) but if wee Crampton gets too expensive I'm sure you could just pop the poppet on ebay and hey presto - problem solved! You get to keep the Kiss and the proceeds of the sale could go towards some shiney blotsnaps. I'm sure Josie would understand
