As a brand-new member, please let me introduce myself:
Hi my name's Pete.........and I have lived on Gozo for 25 years.
We have a place in Yorkshire on the moors, but it's a bit too cold for more than a few days visits a year.
I have been pussying around snorkeling for too long....I nearly took a PADI course in Abu Dhabi 20 years ago.....but never got around to it.
But I was in Xlendi two weeks ago, and I bumped in to Joe Vella Gaffiero (an old friend) a partner in the St Andrews Dive centre, and I told him that I was determined to get the PADI course done ASAP. He encouraged me etc...

I have scuba'd in Malaysia a long time ago....and I am used to wearing 'other' breathing apparatus.....and I LOVE swimming.
So it's pretty obvious what I should do!

Presently I am working, land-locked in southern Chad........but I'll be back to Gozo for New Years' eve. And, then my yearly Jan 1st swim at Hondoq!
Then a short break in Sicily, and I'll be in Xlendi .....learning scuba.....from about the 15th Jan.

I was free swimming there on Saturday the 25th Nov....the water was the same temperature as the land at 21-22 deg C; and it was glorious.
I used to live in Xlendi for 10 years (the broken old villa on the corner at the top of St. Simon St/ Munxar Road, that hasn't been &quot;developed&quot; since we sold it 15 years ago)......and it's quite a lively place, especially in the summer time.....+ I know all the locals.

So I'll be around ......Gozo more than Yorkshire....... and you can always find me & encourage me by contacting through I'm forever blowing bubbles which gives you links to six 'never-up-to-date websites' of mine.

Here's to the deep blue yonder.......I have a few smuggler's tales to tell about Xlendi diving by the way!

Hope to bump in to some of you, sometime.

Yep LisaR,
I've got a tendency to be garrulous.......but now I'm here.......and I'll probably go in to "Lurk" mode.

As a complete 'newbie', I'll have more to learn by just reading posts.

I just wanted to make myself available for any Gozo questions.
