| The shhhh was said in jest. The dive in question was the Canyon (Red Sea), for those than don't know it its literally just a drop under the arches then a nice slow accent back up, all done with 7 others, some went a little shallower, a couple a touch deeper. Most of the others, i have dived with lots of times and they have experienced 60+ several times. No excuses needed, as i was comfortable with the plan beforehand. |

I take it you have deco training over and above your AOW qualification? Did your travel insurance cover you? Specialist diving insurance generally only covers you to your qualification level. Bog-standard policies are usually only to 30m. Who would get you home to Blighty if it turned to ratshit? I'm currently doing an IANTD course that qualifies me to about 50m on trimix. I take it your dive was on air? *Shakes head somewhat disbelievingly*

| Hey guys!! Martin may not have as much experience as some on here but at least he has the Balls to say it, and HEY!! if you don't thinks he's very smart as a result of his first post on here, you DON'T have to dive with him. I'd rather know if a potential buddy was a bit 'Adventurous' (v. PC) up front, than find out on the dive.

| We all have different ideas of what is safe and what isn't. We have to be careful not to push those views down people's throats. Some of us are getting quite practiced at biting our tongues At the end of the day, we all make our decisions about whom we will and will not dive with. That's all that matters in the end. I can't imagine that Martin cares that everyone will think he's a suicidal nutcase with the life expectancy of a mouse wearing "eau du catnip" in a room full of leopards. We all make our own choices in life and as long as we don't hurt anyone else, then ce la vie. |
