I've known people personally who haven't made it back from that sort of dive. And with an awful lot more experience. Jason

Sorry, haven't heard that analogy before, made I laugh Anyway, yeah. Everyone can take there own risks but I echo Jase's sentiments and just how pissed off does everyone get when someone chooses to commit suicide by jumping in front of a train in rush hour There have also been many arguments made about diver's doing, possibly, stupid things causing all divers problems with legislation, nanny rules, higher insurance premiums ..... Just food for thought

Nutters can endanger other people!, What do you do if your new-found buddy starts to do deep/crazy things on a dive? how far do you follow?. I've been lucky so far and haven't dived with anyone beyond my limits yet. you didn't mention the usage of our brave search and rescue services!, will there be a time when people will be billed if they're deemed reckless?? |

| Name Berko, until you get to know me better. Location Pattaya, Thailand First Qualified Dec '71 RN Club Member Would not join a club that would have me as a member. Highest Diving Qualification HSE Pt II saturation diver '79, PADI OWSI (lapsed) '95, AODC/IMCA Saturation supervisor '88. Instructor Yes/No Yes What other training have you found most rewarding? Diver medic technician, 2 weeks messing in ER, ambulances and corpses! What’s your standard Kit Oxygen tank, goggles and flippers and a Sony DVX 1000 with Kowolski Xenon lamps. Where do you usually Dive? Where I am. Number of Dives No idea... but have 4 profession divers logbooks full - don't log sport dives. Deepest Dive 432m - Brazil Longest Dive 15 hours - not funny. Favourite Dive Every one I got paid for. Worst Dive 1972, night-dive under an aircraft carrier in Grand Harbour, Valletta, Malta... CO2 hit & blackout. What dive/trip would you most like to do To spend 5 or 6 hours filmming the 'Brittanic' from saturation. What ONE other question should I have included? Do you really enjoy what you do? Its my life and has been since as far back as I can remember... I knew an atmosphere was 33ft/14.7 psi in primary school ffs, how sad is that? Berko __________________

| Name Dave Location Bournemouth First Qualified 15/12/2002 - PADI OW Club Member Clidive ( BSAC 410 ) & Diving Dorset ( BSAC 006 ). Highest Diving Qualification PADI RD / BSAC Sports with Advanced Nitrox. Instructor Yes/No No What other training have you found most rewarding Like most people, I enjoyed PADI RD. It’s a course that makes you stop and think about things. I am in the middle of Dive Leader with BSAC which I am enjoying as well. What’s your standard Kit Single & pony. Where do you usually Dive Local dives around Poole / Swanage etc with 006. All over SW with 410 ( Plymouth, Cornwall, Portland ). Try to get 2/3 warm water trips in per year. Number of Dives 130 ( most in last 2 years ). Deepest Dive 38m Longest Dive 70 mins Favourite Dive Abroad Grand Cenote, Mexico – just an amazing dive. Stalactites and stalagmites, crystal clear water and the memory of trudging through the jungle in my dive gear to find the cenote entrance. Wilderness Wall, Cayman Brac – first wall dive. Wow. UK Runnel Stone. Just a great dive site. Worst Dive Doing AOW in Oman ( less than 10 dives at time ). Our instructor took us out for our night dive to a location he had never dived himself. Back rolled off the boat into 2 metres of water. Went to new location and was told to back roll in again. Luckily, one of the other students noticed rocks about half a metre below the surface! Went to 3rd location and did a very low vis, scary dive (plankton bloom) which finished with me nearly ending up in a massive net. Whole thing taught me to think for myself and not to place your life in someone’s hands simply because they are a guide / instructor. Now, I would call the dive as soon as they mentioned they hadn’t done the dive in daylight! What dive/trip would you most like to do Cocos & Galapagos What ONE other question should I have included? What are your diving goals / plans for next 12 months (in fact, may ask this myself in new thread). |
