Good Morning!

Hi All,

My reason for joining all you guys and gals is that I need to pick some brains and what a nice bunch you all seem on here! Brain picking will commence in another thread though

I'm not exactly new to diving but I may as well be as I keep letting my quals lapse. I'm currently at AOW but had to go through OW twice to get it and I'm now looking at a Scuba Review before my hols as I've been dry for *cough* 3 years

Here's looking forward to chatting with you all...

xx

Am off to sunny (I hope!) Cancun in February - Wahey! I can't wait; it's been a very long time since I've been on a plane for more than 4 hours.

It's a difficult one as the situation is a bit unusual, but I badly need a Scuba Review and I thought maybe a drysuit course in January just to get a couple of open waters under my belt as well; it's the only way really as I think I'm allergic to cold water.

A quick version of a long story:
Other half's 50th coming up in January. Both of us AOW but need reviews as been dry too long. Me arranged holiday in Feb for us both. He knows nothing about it and I want to keep it that way. Problem? How to bring his skills up to date all of a sudden without letting the cat out of the bag or arousing suspicion...??? Diving is my hottest conversational topic at the moment and he can't think what's come over me and I quote: "Why do you want to go diving all of a sudden? It's the middle of bl**dy winter!!"

Hi Betty, the Scuba review is definitely a good way to get back into a little bit of practice in a controlled environment. I did one after a gap in my diving of erm.... 8 years... It was the best bit of scuba training that I think I have done. The instructor took me through everything from basic buoyancy, to mask removal, kit removal on the surface and re kitting, etc etc.
each school that runs it will be slightly different as it is quite an open ended training session and I think most places tailor it to the skills that they think you need to work on, but I definitely recommend it.

Of course he might be wrong and there may be others with stronger opinions on whether you will get the right answers or not.

As to how you get tubby hubby back into the water, have you thought of hypnotism or rohypnol?
