| Hi YD, Was recommended to YD and very surprised at how big the site is. I currently have never dived in the UK but plan to change this very soon. Have dived the Red Sea twice and in Malaysia and in Thailand with around 70 dives under my belt. I am looking to hook up with any divers around London or Kent who can show me the ropes and get me converted in to being a regular UK Diver. I like wrecks, caves, drift dives and unusual sea life. Being an ex Gordon Ramsay chef I would like to see the odd lobster or Scallop. Chop!!!!! Anyway not sure what to expect but will be open coming on trips or joining a local club ideally based in London. Do southerners use YD? I have my family based in Matlock in Derbyshire so the North East Coast so can visited once a month. Looking forward to my first UK dive !!!!! | Welcome to YD Nice to see you want to try some UK diving. Just wear a 3mm shorty diving here, you will be fine Yorkshire Divers may have begun in Yorkshire, but it has spread quite a bit since then. In fact some members are so far south they are in Oz & Tasmnia.

| Hi John, welcome to YD. Yes, you will find "Soft Southerners" on YD, lots of them dive on the south coast. I'm sure you will find some buddies if you keep your eyes peeled for planned trips. Or you can simply post something like "I'm new to UK diving, will anyone help me loose my UK cherry?" and I'm sure you will be invited along to a few gigs. Janos is very helpful, he's London based with the Hellfins club. You can contact him by looking him up in the members list.
