Hello,

Been trolling the forums for awhile now looking for information but thought I'd best introduce myself. I'm a uni student studying Archaeology, learnt to dive when I was off in SE Asia in January 2006, my girlfriend was already qualified and got me involved - something I really should remember to thank her for.

Qualified as a PADI AOW straight off the bat but since then have only really done holiday diving in nice warm water and not much at that, joined my Uni's BSAC branch in September and I'm now half way through sports diver training and loving it. Glad I switched to BSAC, finding the skills I'm gaining to be a lot more useful than the stuff I picked up on holiday. Trolling the forums has also helped, especially the little sub-forum where people mention the mistakes they've made whilst diving - lots of useful stuff in there.

EDIT: I hasten to add that I'm not knocking PADI, just that the skills I learnt abroad were lacking for diving in UK waters...
