Smile Dyson Diving

Dyson Diving ,,, as it will be refered to from now on as DD, I was asked recently by a lot of people ,well one actually, where did Dyson Diver , oops DD , come from .
So i thought i would put pen to paper ,,, and explain, DD , isnt actually stemed from the fact that i cant look at a rebreather without seeing a Dyson , or the fact that i can empty a fifteen faster than you could with a Dyson.
Its from an idea which is far easier to understand , and encompass. The great god Mr Dyson himself took a product which we all had and reinvented it , and sold us another one , fantastic marketing. The man can only be admired ,so with that in mind Dyson Diving became a reality.
Dyson now standing , in diving circles, for Designed, it, Yourself So Ones Needed. but this may change . Its not only an awful anacronym , its a whole diving system.
Dyson Diving ,the basic idea is ,,, why buy one when you can make something not quite as good a lot cheaper , and no one else in the group will have one anything like it.
This makes buddy checks a thing of the past , as by the time you have gone through your custom kit list , mentioning all the unique features , there wont be time to go diving , so this no check , speeds up the whole dive. [Sometimes as gaffa tape gets wet and looses its stickyness and things drop off , this too can spped up , or infact end a dive too.]
Dyson Diving includes a very comprehensive kit list , the ideal kit list should include ,,, at least three fins , pref all odd ones , one of which must always be a split fin , if a split isnt available off the beach , thats the best place to get new fins, then a standard paddle fin is acceptable [with carefull use of a jigsaw it can be made into a DD split fin,]
To novice DD the three fin approach will seem strange , but , if you do loose a fin , you will aways have a spare , which as it didnt match at the start , still wont match , if an in water swap is needed. Incedentally , the same bungy that holds the spare fin to your leg , when not in use , will double as a perfectly good DD fin strap. see now your getting the idea .
Knives ,,, again ,,, Dyson Divers will allways carry at least four dive knives ,,, a small machette tied to the opposite leg than your spare fin , is the accepted norm. because of the weight its best to attatch this with a small padlock ,,, better safe than loosing it [see knife four]. Two rusty knives , which will never cut again ,except maybe your cheese sanwich at lunch time, should be attatched to your web belt , [or seatbelt webbing DD weightbelt , if you have made one ]These should ideally not be reachable by either hand through out the dive .And,last but not least , just the plastic sheath of a pound stretcher kitchen knife should be attatched up side down , so the knife falls out easily , to the shoulder strap of your bcd.[note the knife is optional]so you look like a commando.
I will write more as i get a chance ... at the moment as well as a dyson rebreather pictured above , im working on converting a crash helmet into a fullface dive mask , and three oil drums and a garage compressor into a compression chamber,,,
The most valid point in all this writing ,, is ,, whensome one points at something youve made or modified yourself and says ,,,, that looks a bit Dyson ,, be proud you did it your way.
As a foot note ,, remember that as a Dyson Diver ,, you will set the absolute bottom time to be at least ten secconds shorter than the length of time you can hold your breath, and the maximum depth at any time in a Dyson Dive will never be greater than the distnce your knee is from the ground.
Remember the simple phrase ,,, a Dyson Dive is a safe dive.
