Gidday from Wellington (NZ)

Hi
I am a Kiwi diver, signed up because in the next year or two I expect to have questions about Red Sea diving and this seems a useful forum to ask them.
In the meantime feel free to ask me about NZ - especially Wellington diving.

Cheers

Alison

Hi Ali, there are a couple of us Kiwi's living in the UK on the board and the poms on this board are a pretty good mob, I am sure that you will have no trouble getting questions answered.

You can learn up at the Poor Knights, where NZ's best diving is, Dive Tutukaka run an openwater course each week, at least that is what their website says. Apart from diving there is not a lot to do at Tutukaka although I think they do daily pickups from Whangarei, the nearest city, albeit a pretty small one. The downside of learning in Auckland is that most of the open water dives are done in a not very exciting lake - it might be better than a quarry but it ain't the sea. I learned in Wellington which is a nice city and the openwater dives are in the sea. Depends on the time of year you Bro is here, in winter there are probably only a couple of courses a month, across all the shops. Island Bay Divers is one shop with regular training in Wellington. I don't know much about the dive training in the South Island. Cheers. Alison

Hello and welcome Alison. Are you a real kiwi? You seem to be able to use vowels pretty well..!

Aye, a real Kiwi, I am not sure I could pronounce your Devon village but how would you go on:
Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapiki-maungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu? There are quite a lot of vowels in there..
